Visit our brewery in Assagay
Lions River Craft Brewery (LRCB) is a family-run craft brewery owned by Mike & Michelle McClelland. We brew in small batches at our production brewery at Unit C4, 42 Fraser Road, Assagay, and pour the full range at our taproom, Taps on Twenty-4, on Old Main Road in Hillcrest.
This page has everything you need to plan a visit: how to book a time at the brewery, where to find the taproom, what we brew, and who you will meet when you get here.
Brewery visits by appointment
Unit C4, 42 Fraser Road, Assagay
The Assagay brewery is a working production space rather than a walk-in bar, so visits are by appointment only. Booking ahead means a member of the brew team can set aside time to show you around and talk you through how our beer is made, without interrupting brew day.
It is the best way to see where your favourite pint starts life, ask the brewers questions, and get a feel for how a small independent brewery works.
How to book
- WhatsApp us on 074 471 3474 with your name, how many people are coming and the day you have in mind.
- We will reply to confirm a time that fits around the brewing schedule.
- Arrive at Unit C4, 42 Fraser Road, Assagay at your booked time. Anyone being served alcohol must be 18 or older, and we may ask for ID.
No appointment needed: Taps on Twenty-4, Hillcrest

If you would rather just pull up a stool, head to our taproom. Taps on Twenty-4 at 24 Old Main Road, Hillcrest is where the LRCB range is poured fresh on tap, no booking required.
Ask the team behind the bar what is pouring today, try something new, or settle in with an old favourite. For current trading hours, check tapsontwenty4.com or send us a WhatsApp.
The beers we brew
Our lineup runs from crisp lagers to dark, rich porters. Here is what is in the LRCB family right now:
- Assagay Haze (Coming soon) — Hazy New England IPA. Small-batch Hazy NEIPA — tropical fruit energy, soft body, bright hop haze. Brewing soon in Assagay; 440ml cans on the way. Full range stays on tap at Taps on Twenty-4.
- Kölsch (Coming soon) — Kölsch. Small-batch Kölsch in 440ml bottles — soft malt, gentle hop, bright finish. Brewing soon in Assagay. Full LRCB range stays on tap at Taps on Twenty-4.
- Vanilla Porter — Porter. Dark malt warmth with a soft vanilla finish. Silky body, cocoa whisper, late-night pour energy. Small-batch from Assagay.
- American Pale Ale — American Pale Ale. Bright citrus and pine hop character over a clean malt base. Crisp, aromatic, made for sunny Assagay afternoons.
- Irish Ale — Irish Red Ale. Caramel malt depth with a gentle roast edge and smooth finish. The friendly pint that keeps coming back.
- Langton's Rye Amber Ale — American Amber Ale. Medium-bodied American Amber — balanced malt and hop, subtle rye spice, easy-drinking finish. From Head Brewer Brett Langton's Langtons range, available through LRCB.
- Rajësh — India Pale Ale. Assagay IPA in a 440ml can — full-flavoured hop character over a clean malt base. Rich enough for a campfire, crisp enough for a sunny patio.
- Lager, Lager, Lager — American Lager. Easy-drinking American Lager in a 440ml can — light body, clean finish, made for long sessions and short excuses.
- Bohemian Pilsner — Bohemian Pilsner. Classic noble-hop bitterness, soft grain sweetness, and a dry finish. Lagered patience, Assagay attitude.
- Dortmunder Export — Dortmunder Export Lager. Golden export-style lager — smooth bready malt up front, a firm hop snap and a crisp, clean finish. A touch fuller than a pilsner, in the tradition of Dortmund's hard-working industrial brewers. Small-batch from Assagay.
- German Festive — Festbier / Märzen-style. Bread-crust malt, light spice, and festive body. Built for shared tables and longer evenings.
- Lions 5 Best English Bitter — English Best Bitter. Balanced English hop bitterness with biscuit malt and a dry, sessionable finish. Pub energy, craft standards.
Alongside the beer you will also find Wonky Donkey Cider, ready-to-drink Gin Diesel Gin & Tonic and Vodka Seltzer Merry Berry, plus LRCB tees, caps and golf shirts. Full tasting notes live on our beers page. See the full lineup.
The people behind the beer
LRCB is a small crew, and you are likely to meet some of us when you visit:

- Carter — Operations Manager.
- Brett Langton — Head Brewer & Master of Operations. Brewing since 2014, founder of Langtons Brewery in 2021, and part of LRCB since 2026.
- Thabani — Assistant Brewer & General Ops.
- Sphiwe — Assistant Brewer & Deliveries.
- Adrian — Brewer & Distiller.
